· · 2 min read

Greece has chosen Embraer's KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft, a decision welcomed by Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra. Mahindra highlighted the aircraft's advanced capabilities and growing international acceptance, strengthening the case for its potential manufacture in India.

Greece has become the 14th nation and seventh European country to select Embraer's KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft, a move that has been lauded by Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra. This decision reinforces the aircraft's growing international appeal and its potential impact on India's aerospace manufacturing ambitions.

Mahindra's Vision for Indian Production

Anand Mahindra expressed his strong support for Greece's acquisition, emphasizing that the KC-390's increasing global acceptance strengthens the Mahindra Group's partnership with Embraer. This collaboration aims to establish a final assembly line for the KC-390 Millennium in India, contingent upon its selection by the Indian Air Force under its Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme.

Mahindra stated, "Another major milestone for Embraer and the KC-390 Millennium. Greece’s decision to acquire the KC-390 is yet another strong endorsement of this exceptional platform." He highlighted that if the aircraft is chosen by India, the partnership would involve a significant degree of localization using the Indian aerospace supply chain, bolstering the nation's indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem.

A Modern and Versatile Aircraft

The KC-390 Millennium is praised for its advanced capabilities, which Mahindra described as "the most modern, versatile and capable military transport aircraft in the world today." Its combination of speed, range, payload capacity, advanced technology, and multi-mission functionality is setting new benchmarks in military aviation.

The aircraft's expanding international customer base now includes:

  • Brazil
  • Portugal
  • Hungary
  • South Korea
  • The Netherlands
  • Austria
  • The Czech Republic
  • Sweden
  • Uzbekistan
  • The United Arab Emirates
  • Colombia
  • Greece

This widespread adoption, as Mahindra noted, "speaks volumes about the aircraft’s capabilities and operational value," further validating its role as a premier military transport platform.
