Ramayana Epic May Extend Beyond Two Parts
Speculation is mounting regarding a potential third installment of the highly anticipated mythological epic, Ramayana. While initially conceived as a two-part cinematic franchise, recent comments from lead actor Ranbir Kapoor and producer Namit Malhotra suggest that the creative team remains open to expanding the narrative based on audience reception.
Ranbir Kapoor's "Spoiler" on Part Two Progress
During a recent conversation with Review Nation, Ranbir Kapoor, who portrays Lord Rama, revealed that he has already completed approximately 50% of his work on the second installment of the film. He then made a passing reference to a possible third part, stating, "Even when we finish part two or part three, if there is one." This remark quickly ignited discussions across social media, with fans wondering if the actor had inadvertently disclosed future plans for the grand project ahead of its initial release.
Producer Namit Malhotra Confirms Flexibility
Producer Namit Malhotra further addressed the prospect of a third film during the project's recent Los Angeles premiere. Malhotra disclosed that the makers had, at one point, considered developing the epic across three installments before ultimately deciding on a two-part structure. However, he emphasized that the team is prepared to re-evaluate this decision after assessing how audiences respond to the first film. "We started out the film, we were going to make it in three parts, then we decided to make it in two," Malhotra explained, adding that the team could return to the drawing board to assess if anything needed to be added or removed based on feedback.
Ramayana: Release Dates and Key Cast
The first installment of the epic, titled Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, is set for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, available in both standard and IMAX formats.
